I REALIZE BEHAVIOR IS CHALLENGING EVERYWHERE, BUT I WOULD LIKE FOR YOU TO LOOK INTO WAYS WE CAN SUPPORT OUR TEACHERS AND STUDENTS IN OUR CLASSROOMS. I THINK WE ALL REALIZE THAT IT CHALLENGES US TO BE CREATIVE WITH OUR DISCIPLINE. A STUDENT OR STUDENT WITH X BEHAVIOR GETS SENT OUT OF CLASS TO THE OFFICE. THAT ELEMENTARY SCHOOL MAY OR MAY NOT HAVE AN AP OR COUNSELOR ON CAMPUS THAT DAY. THE PRINCIPAL MAY OR MAY NOT BE ON CAMPUS DEPENDING ON WHAT MEETINGS ARE ON THE CALENDAR. WHAT DOES THAT TEACHER DO? I HAVE TOLD MANY TEACHERS THIS YEAR TO MAKE SURE TO DOCUMENT BEHAVIORS, BUT THAT JUST LEAVES A PAPER TRAIL. WHAT ARE WE DOING ABOUT THE BEHAVIORS? WHAT IS THE BIGGER PLAN? HOW DO WE KNOW THAT NEXT YEAR WILL BE BETTER BECAUSE WE HAVE IMPLEMENTED X, Y, AND Z PROCESSES. THIS IS JUST ELEMENT YOUR SCHOOL. LET'S TALK ABOUT HIGH SCHOOL. WE DECIDED TO GO TO BLOCK BECAUSE WE WERE PROMISED SMALLER CLASS SIZES IN ORDER TO PROVIDE INTERVENTION IN OUR CLASSROOMS, BUILD RELATIONSHIPS WITH STUDENTS, PROVIDE MORE ELECTIVE OPPORTUNITIES, HELP OUR STRUGGLING POPULATION WITH CREDIT RECOVERY DURING THE SCHOOL DAY INSPECTING THEM -- THE TO KEEP HIGH SCHOOL TEACHER CAP AT 175 IN ORDER TO SUPPORT ITS DESIRE TO START A BLOCK SCHEDULE THE FOLLOWING SCHOOL YEAR AND IN ORDER TO PROVIDE THOSE OPPORTUNITIES TO OUR STUDENTS. BARGAINING CONTINUED LAST WEEK AFTER A LONG BREAK.
OUR LAST DATE WAS BEFORE WINTER BREAK , AND IT RESUMES AGAIN NEXT TUESDAY. I HOPE THAT WE MAKE SOME PROGRESS. ALLIANCE LAST MONTH DISCUSSED TRANSPORTATION AND REWARDING STATION. I HOPE THE DISTRICT CONTINUES TO MOVE FORWARD TO BRING BACK OUR OWN TRANSPORTATION DEPARTMENT AND CONTINUES TO IMPROVE THE REORGANIZATION PROCESS. I THINK WE ALL SAW A LOT OF IMPROVEMENT THIS YEAR AND I HOPE THAT THAT CONTINUES. THE STANDING COMMITTEE CONTINUES TO MEET INVOLVING SPECIAL EDUCATION. THEY MEET ALMOST MONTHLY. THEY CONTINUE TO DISCUSS AND HOPEFULLY MAKE SOME CHANGES TO OUR SPECIAL EDUCATION DEPARTMENT THAT FITS BOTH OUR STUDENTS AND HELPS OUR TEACHERS BE SUCCESSFUL. LAST MONTH THEY ATTENDED THE SOUTHEASTERN SERVICE SCHOOL BOARD DINNER WITH A LOT OF YOU HERE. IT WAS A NICE NIGHT . THE FOOD WAS PRETTY GOOD. I WENT HOME ASKING MY HUSBAND WHAT THE TITLE OF HIS MEMOIR WOULD BE. I AM STILL ADAMANT THAT MINE IS DEPENDING ON THE DAY. IT STILL RINGS TRUE ALMOST EVERY DAY. YESTERDAY I ATTENDED THE PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT WITH THE MIDDLE SCHOOL SOCIAL SCIENCE TEACHERS. I REALLY LOVE WHAT THAT IS DOING WITH OUR HISTORY TEACHERS, AND I HOPE THAT THE DISTRICT CONSIDERS EXPANDING INTO OTHER TEACHERS IF APPLICABLE. I ROLLED TO TEACHER OF THE YEAR COMMITTEE. I AM REALLY EXCITED ABOUT THIS NEW PROCESS THAT IS TRANSPARENT AND ALLOWS FOR SITES TO DETERMINE WHO THEIR TEACHER OF THE YEAR IS. THE APPLICATIONS THAT HAVE BEEN SUBMITTED ARE VERY COMPETITIVE AND CLEARLY POINT OUT WE HAVE A LOT OF WONDERFUL TEACHERS AT OUR SCHOOLS DOING A LOT OF WONDERFUL THINGS FOR OUR STUDENTS. BTA SHARED THE DATA FROM ITS ADMIN SURVEY WITH ALL OF YOU . I HOPE YOU GOT THE ENVELOPES. OUR MEMBERSHIP ENGAGEMENT COMMITTEE SPENT A LOT OF TIME COMPILING THE DATA TO GIVE YOU FEEDBACK FROM TEACHERS ON SITE ADMIN. SITE REPS WILL BE GIVEN THE DATA AT THE NEXT COUNCIL MEETING IN MARCH TO FOSTER CONSERVATOR -- CONVERSATION. NEXT WEEK I'M ATTENDING THE AI CONFERENCE IN ANAHEIM WITH MANY LEADERS AND LOOK FORWARD TO THE BRIEFING EXPERIENCE AND HOW WE CAN INCORPORATE SOME OF OUR CLASSROOMS ACROSS THE DISTRICT. ANNUALLY WE REVIEW THE PLAN WITH EDUCATIONAL PARTNERS AND DETERMINE IF ANY CHANGES NEED TO BE MADE. IN FEBRUARY OF EACH YEAR , WE PROVIDE AN UPDATE, INCLUDING THE CURRENT STATUS OF IMPLEMENTATION OF EACH ACTION, THE CURRENT EXPENDITURES TO DATE , AND OUTCOME DATA FOR EACH METRIC THAT IS CURRENTLY AVAILABLE.
EXPENDITURES AND IMPLEMENTATION INFORMATION WILL BE PRESENTED AS NOT STARTED , IN PROGRESS , OR COMPLETE. GOING TO BLOCK SCHEDULE NEXT YEAR LIKE IT OR NOT AND I'M REALLY EXCITED BECAUSE I WANT TO SEE IF IT MAKES A DIFFERENCE BECAUSE TEST SCORES ARE NOT GOING ANYWHERE SO WE HAVE TO TRY SOMETHING. THIS IS WHAT WE HAVE DECIDED TO TRY. 'S WE ARE GOING TO BLOCK SCHEDULE AND THAT'S THE WAY IT IS. I WANT TO REMIND EVERYBODY , I DO WANT TO REMIND EVERYBODY THAT WE TALK ABOUT THE CURRENT CONTRACT AND 175 STUDENTS. TAKE THAT OVER FIVE PERIODS THAT AVERAGES 35 KIDS PER CLASS. LOG SCHEDULE OVER SIX PERIODS IS 29 PER CLASS. 29 STUDENTS FOR A HIGH SCHOOL CLASS , THAT'S LESS THAN WE HAVE IN SIXTH GRADE SO I WANT PEOPLE TO THINK ABOUT THINGS AND PUT THINGS IN PERSPECTIVE. WANT TO DO WHAT'S BEST FOR STUDENTS, STUDENTS. ON THAT NOTE I THINK YOU SO MUCH. I DO SUPPORT OUR DISTRICT, MY COLLEAGUES , I SUPPORT MY UNIONS I ALWAYS HAVE BUT I WANT YOU GUYS TO KNOW WHERE I STAND ON SOME OF THESE THINGS AND I HOPE WE CAN WORK TOGETHER TO MAKE SOME GOOD THINGS HAPPEN FOR ALL EMPLOYEES AND STUDENTS IN THE DISTRICT.
